PRODUCT REVIEW: Carhartt Yukon Extremes Parka

Short Story: Blending durability and function with warmth is a difficult task, but the new Carhartt Yukon Extremes Parka (both men’s and women’s) blends the needs of the jobsite with insulation needed to withstand the cold. This new iteration of a winter work parka is already winning over customers and we feel this is a great addition to the Extremes line of outerwear. We believe that it does an excellent job of being tough enough for the jobsite, and comfortable enough for everyday use. If you are looking for a new winter parka, you should definitely check this one out.Carhartt Yukon Extremes Insulated Parka for Men & Women at Dave's New YorkLong Story: Staying warm is a necessity, especially when you have to work outside, all day, every day regardless of the weather. And when temperatures drop, or the wind and snow start building up, sometimes it’s hard to find a good combination of warmth, functionality, and a style that you can wear anytime. The Carhartt Yukon Extremes Parka does a great job of checking off all of those boxes.

For Work: The 500-denier Cordura shell is great for several reasons: abrasion resistance, water resistance, and long-lasting durability without being stiff or restricting. Carhartt utilizes 390g 3M featherless down insulation that mimics the classic down insulation (700 fill equivalent) without any of the actual feathers. The multitude of pockets allows you to carry all that you need and stash all of your gear. The reflective taping is subtle, but in a work environment, it could be crucial to keeping you safe. Add in things like storm cuffs, tunnel hood (with removable faux fur ruff), two-way zipper, wind-fighter technology, a stash pocket on your lower back...and the list goes on. Basically, if you are working in cold and wet conditions, then Carhartt has thought of everything you would need in a parka.

For everyday life: Even if your everyday life does not put you on a construction site, but you still value warmth, durability, and function in a coat, then the Extremes Parka is still a great option for you. This parka is light enough that it does not weigh you down, but has plenty of insulation for warmth. You’ll find tons of pockets for gloves, your phone, and anything else that you need to carry with you. The parka is cut on a workwear fit, so it is cut on a slightly larger style, but it is not over-sized. It allows room for a hoodie or sweater, but you do not need to wear a ton underneath it. The featherless down insulation has good quilting and padding without being puffy. In the snow or freezing rain, you will be thankful for the DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Regardless of whether you are using this for work, for the weekend, or for anything in between, this parka is loaded with great features. We think that it presents a great value to anyone who is going to use it. It has clean styling, but is filled with small details. It has tons of function, but it is not over-built. It has a great durable fabric, but it’s not too stiff. It is the combination of all of these things that has really turned this new item into a winner this season, and we hope to see it in the line for years to come!
