PRODUCT REVIEW: Red Wing Heritage 'Weekender Chukka'
Short Story: The Weekender Chukka from Red Wing Heritage is a welcomed addition to the line. It blends a casual style and aesthetic without sacrificing any of the quality and durability of a boot that bears the Red Wing name. The new modified crepe-wedge sole is flexible, but the material is built to last. The chukka height is easy to pair with jeans (tapered or straight leg) or khakis. We’re excited to add it to our growing rotation of Red Wing Shoes.
Long Story: The Weekender Chukka is a welcomed addition to the line of classic work boots. It combines the heritage feel with durable materials, and all while maintaining a rugged-sophisticated look. The chukka height is perfect. It’s lightweight and flexible while maintaining the quality of US-made leather that is tanned, cut, and sewn right in Red Wing, Minnesota.
When you pick one up, you immediately feel the light weight of the boot, and the newly-created sole. The leather has a tough, yet-unstructured feel to it that lets you know it will be an easier boot to break-in. What we really like about the chukka height is the versatility of it. Being slightly taller than oxford shoes gives it a more casual look; but being below the traditional 6-inch work boot height makes it easy to wear every day. The style pairs well with jeans (tapered or straight leg) and can be dressed up with khakis. We think the style works best with jeans with slightly trimmer leg openings and a shorter hem.
However, don’t take these boots only for a fashion statement. The Rough & Tough leather is the same durable material used on the classic 1907 work boots. These chukkas can take a beating and are just as good on the job-site as they are off it.
Overall, the Weekender Chukka is a top-notch product. The look, the quality, and the feel when you’re wearing them, all make you understand that Red Wing took a lot of care in designing these boots. We would definitely recommend trying them on for yourself to see how this boot can fit your style.
