It’s no secret that more people are finding comfort and style in relaxed fits. What was once considered out of style, the classic styles like the Levi’s 550 Relaxed Fit jeans are having a moment as one of our most popular models. There is something about the looser seat and thigh, lighter-washed denim, and a slouchier overall aesthetic that so many people are moving towards. Whether it is for streetwear or skatewear, the 550 is appealing to younger and more forward-styling individuals. And I say individuals, because even though this is traditionally a men’s fit, we are seeing younger people and women really into these jeans.

Our most popular sizes for relaxed fit used to be around 36-40 inch waist, but we are getting asked for sizes 29-32 inch waist…so regularly that we are adding more inventory as often as we can. For those who want a traditional stonewash or bleach denim, then the 550 is the way to go. They are 100% cotton, heavier (12.5-13 ounce) denim, and sit a bit higher in the waist. These are a style that has been consistent for decades.

We have also brought the Levi’s 559 Relaxed Straight Leg jeans back into our offering. The 559 is relaxed in the seat and thigh, like the 550, but the leg opening is slightly wider and the washes tend to have more fading and wearing. The 559 also differs in that we carry two washes that have stretch and are in a slightly lighter weight denim for everyday comfort. If you are looking for an already broken-in look and feel, then the 559 gives you an option that you don’t have to spend time wearing, washing, and beating up your jeans.
